Biography

I came to Shiloh Road in August of 2013 as the Preaching Minister.  Prior to the move to Tyler I had worked in Youth Ministry all of my adult life, serving 10 years as the Youth & Family Minister at Westhill in Cleburne, TX.  While in college I worked for four summers as a youth ministry intern at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas.

I attended Harding University in Searcy, AR.  I majored in Psychology and recieved a minor in Youth & Family Ministry.  I was a catcher for the Bison Baseball team.  I received my Masters of Divinity with a Concentration in Biblical Languages in May of 2012 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth.  I have been accepted into the DMin program at Fuller Theological Seminary to begin Fall 2013.

I met my wife Cami in 2004 after both of us moved to Cleburne for work and were married in February of 2005.  We have 4 children, Gracie, Ryan, Caleb & Kaylee.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, working out, riding bikes, running and triathlon.

  1. Hey Gary, came across your post today, and enjoyed reading it. I noticed you had some experience with youth ministry. I have a heart for young girls, and started a blog focusing on hispanic teen girls. But, I’m new to the blogging world, and would appreciate you giving me any starting pointers, especially on how I might increase some traffic. I am grateful for even 1 girl that might pass over and be spoken to with something on my blog, but I sure want to reach more! 🙂 God bless!

    1. I am relatively new to blogging as well but I am happy to share some things I have learned so far. You need to have a presence on Facebook and Twitter (this article changed the way I looked at social media). I publish my blog to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I already have connections there, so take advantage of that. Secondly, make sure you tag your posts really well. The more tags the better chance the pickup searches. Third, follow Michael Hyatt’s blog, I have learned so much from him, especially in regard to blogging and social media. Search his site for beginning a blog, creating a platform and twitter; awesome blogger and leader. Hope this helps a little.
